Hi friends, my name is Jared Garrison a/k/a “Coach Keto”. I appreciate you stopping by to give my website a look. I hope my content will be a blessing to you. It is my hope you may tell and share with others who are having health issues such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, obesity and other chronic illnesses.

I would like to share a little about myself so you can get a better understanding why I do what I do. While living in the projects in Montgomery, Alabama as a child, I loved exercising and being fit. I didn’t have equipment such as barbells and dumbbells.  I would go to the pantry and select the heaviest canned goods to do bicep curls and other upper body exercises. Then I’d go upstairs to my bedroom where I’d do countless sit-ups and push-ups.

I would like to share a little about myself so you can get a better understanding why I do what I do. While living in the projects in Montgomery, Alabama as a child, I loved exercising and being fit. Then I’d go upstairs to my bedroom where I’d do countless sit-ups and push-ups.

I continued my love for health and fitness through adulthood. However, as you know, we fall off the wagon at times. Because of my love for health and fitness I would somehow get back on the wagon. While serving in the Air Force in the mid-eighties I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. Later I was diagnosed with heart palpitations. In 2013 I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. It was during my search for a diet to lose weight (to help with my high blood pressure and sleep apnea issues) I stumbled on a diet online called the “Ketogenic” diet. I learned if I lowered my carbohydrate intake, I could switch my body over from burning carbohydrates as my primary fuel source to burning my own body fat. In other words, I could turn my body into a fat burning machine! I quickly learned there were several other health benefits to the Ketogenic diet other than just weight loss.

Other benefits I experienced on the Ketogenic diet include more energy, decrease in hunger and nagging aches and pains. Aches and pains also disappeared in my knees and ankles. I had greater focus, and my mood was greatly improved. My diagnosis of sleep apnea was downgraded from “severe” to “mild”.  My weight decreased from 220 pounds to 177 pounds. My blood pressure dramatically dropped, and my dosage was cut in half.

In 1997, I was Fitness Director at Gold’s Gym in Montgomery, Alabama. I was also a Personal Trainer at Gold’s Gym and World’s Gym in Montgomery, Alabama. After twenty-one years of service, I retired from the Army National Guard in 2016. I became a Dr Berg trained Keto and Intermittent Fasting Coach April 16, 2024.

I have been married to my amazing wife, Melody, since August 29, 2014. Combined we have nine children and eight grandchildren.

My purpose in life is also my greatest passion—to see God’s people healthy and thriving while they pursue their own purpose in life-disease free!
