Balanced Diet

Home / Balanced Diet

The body uses three main sources of macronutrients: proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Since the body’s composition is mainly proteins and fats, then it is natural that they are the primary source of nutrients the body needs to thrive. Carbohydrates, on the other hand, are not an essential nutrient. Meaning the body does not require it from an outside source. The body can make carbohydrates from proteins and fats if it needs to.

On the Keto diet, proteins and fats are prioritized over carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are to be kept as low as possible to achieve ketosis (fat-burning). Therefore, in terms of a balanced diet (on Keto), it consists of a well-formulated ratio of protein, fat, and carbohydrate. On Keto, the recommended ratio is 70% fat, 25% protein, and 5% carbohydrate. Thus, an individual will be eating a balanced diet according to Keto standards.
